Our group of 14 travelled to Beijing for a Model United Nations conference. We contacted Hunter via email. He was very helpful in giving us information about the area. He was prompt in answering emails and even went as far as keeping in touch via wechat. He was very informative in as we planned the tours to take and gave us useful advice on what would suit our needs.

When we arrived we were met at the airport and transported to our hotel. We felt secure in the hands of Hunt Tour. We went on visits to the city and to the market. On each visit, the drivers were very friendly and understanding. We visited the Great Wall of China and our tour guide was informative and patient with our slow students.

I highly recommend Hunt Tours as trustworthy tour company. They provided the service we need in a country we had never been to.

Hunter Shang (Hunter-China Tours) has planned many trips for our family of four. We had a fantastic weekend trip to Pingyao, a week-long trip that included Xian and Datong, and another amazing week in Chengdu, Guilin,and Yangshuo. The best part about Hunter planned trips is that everything is included, we don’t have to worry about anything. We get picked up at the airport or train station, drivers and guides are very friendly and knowledgeable, and the hotels have been great. We really enjoyed some of the cultural experiences planned by Hunter that we would not have known about on our own.
We have two children under 11 years old and they have enjoyed all of the trips we’ve been on. We also had visitors from the United States and the comfort of having Hunter plan the trips allows us to enjoy our time with family.
Hunter has also planned day trips for our family and visitors to experience amazing attractions of Beijing with an informative guide and the comfort of a driver. We truly enjoyed the history and culture of these sites.
Hunter is very responsive and available if any problems happen on the trips. We had a small issue once in the airport that he was able to handle quickly and easily.
We have seen amazing places and experienced so much of China because of Hunter. We are so thankful for his expertise, his flexibility, his responsiveness, and his passion for sharing his love of China.

I’m a bit exhausted, but that is because I have been out and about the past few days. There is so much to see and do in Beijing!

I have truly enjoyed my vacation, and the tour guides and the drivers are major reasons why. The guides were very informative, enthusiastic, and patient, and were always on time. The drivers were courteous and safe, and I felt very comfortable with them behind the wheel. All four were prompt, and seemed to enjoy what they were doing.

The train ride and the return flight were great as well. The guides made sure I was checked in before leaving the station and the airport. And I was surprised to have been served a meal on a short flight, but it was appreciated.

I wish I knew someone who was planning a trip to Beijing, so I could recommend you to them. The itinerary was well planned, and I believe I really got my money’s worth. I have a great perspective about Beijing and Xi’an, and could not have asked for a better experience.

We asked Hunter to organize an 18 day tour of China for us. Within a week he got back to us with a detailed itinerary of what he would recommend. We had requested a blend of Chinese history, Chinese Culture and well-known scenic tourist attractions. We also wanted something a little different than what “group tour packages” offered. Hunter’s itinerary was exactly what we had in mind and more. Every day was a very memorable experience. Hunter took care of all the paper work to enter China and made it a very straight forward, stress free process for us. At every step he assured us that all the details would be taken care of and they certainly were. There was a guide and or driver that greeted us at every new location. They were always on time, friendly and easy to converse with. The drivers spoke little English, but were well versed in getting us to every location without any problems and would often slow down so that we could take pictures en-route to our next stop. Even though traffic was congested they never showed any frustration or impatience.

Our trip included three domestic flights, an overnight train, two river cruises, and two bullet trains. All travel arrangements went very smoothly and although we weren’t in a group our driver and guides made sure we knew exactly where to go as in most places people didn’t speak English. The best part of being on a “private tour” was that the guides would take us to authentic Chinese restaurants where the food was absolutely delicious and very different than what people in large tour groups experienced. We also enjoyed the fact that we had flexibility in how the day would play out and could adjust time at each event and add activities that interested us. Once our guides knew our interests they would make suggestions as to what we might want to add to our day. For example, in Shanghai, our guide told us about the Maglev Train that traveled to the airport and back. We were able to add this experience on to the end of our day.

Hunter was only a phone call away if we needed any assistance which gave us complete peace of mind throughout our trip. All the guides and drivers that Hunter hired enjoy working for him, and spoke highly of his reputation in the tour business. We have already recommended “Huntours” to friends that are considering traveling to China. It’s too bad that Hunter doesn’t plan trips to other countries as we would love to experience this type of trip planning for all our other travel plans. Our trip to China was an amazing and positive experience, thanks to Hunter!

Gary was a great guide, not only giving us historical information on our tour, but also helping us out when a student left his phone behind at the theatre. When another student left his laptop at the airport on departure, Hunter helped us to retrieve the laptop and got it shipped off to a family friend for us so that the student could reclaim it.

Gary and Hunter were both super helpful, both in our planning stages before we traveled, and in the actual tour (with last minute changes to the itinerary) while we were there.

I want to express my thanks for a wonderful tour last week. Everything went perfectly from the pickup at the airport in Chongching to our drop-off at the airport in Yichang. The accommodations on the ship were wonderful and we all had a great time. I want to let you know that we were very pleased with our guide Coffee in Yichang. He was not only there to meet us on the ship and help us get to the airport, but he also helped us get bags checked and boarding passes at the airport and even helped us order lunch and made sure the food was not too spicy for my mother.

My parents were very pleased with the trip and it helped make their first trip to China a wonderful experience.

It was great to meet you in Beijing. I cannot thank you enough for organizing an absolutely amazing 4 days for us! Your communication while we were planning our trip was great. Between the places we wanted to see and your suggestions, I feel that we have had the perfect experience of Beijing. Your drivers who met us at the train station and air port were courteous and prompt. Our guide, Gary was excellent! He was lots of fun and knew so much background information that really made the trip even more enjoyable. He suggested excellent choices for restaurants and cheerfully accommodated any of our requests.

We enjoyed Xi’an, but were disappointed in that city overall. Sophie seemed to know only facts from a book (perhaps following Gary – who was so amazing – made her less impressive). She was very nice and tried very hard, but obviously a beginner guide. The stop at the terracotta factory was more of a shopping experience than a learning opportunity about the warriors.

Thank you for the organization of our trip to Chendu and Tibet. You provided clear, helpful and accurate information with good and bad news about the impending trip. I especially appreciated the “head up” when Tibet was closed to foreign tourists and the re-opening which luckily allowed us to proceed. Your suggestions to customize the itinerary were accurate and helpful and allowed us to create the best experience for our family.

Though our flight was delayed a few hours and luggage slow, the guide and driver were patient and welcoming upon arrival in Chengdu. We enjoyed our visit to the pandas and were dropped at the airport several hours in advance of our flight to Lhasa.

With the outstanding delivery service of the Tibetan travel permit, we had no trouble on arrival and met our excellent guide. He was warm, friendly, spoke great English and answered many questions. Although the drivers needed to change (and we loved our first driver), the guide was helpful, responsive and unbelievably knowledgable. All this would have been enough but he was also a fabulous photographer and took a few fantastic family pictures for us.

The greatest challenge was the hotel reservation in Lhasa was not in our name, but Hunter’s cell phone number allowed for appropriate communication to happen.

All food recommendations were fine, and we were able to enjoy the sites of Lhasa. Especially lucky and special were two events: 1. the 30 minutes and Sera monestary when the monks were having their meeting including chanting, drumming, horns, and eating and 2. Adventuring in the cliffs to find our own caves in which to take a bit of time for meditation.

The logistics were simple, it was nice to not worry about them at all.

I would be happy to recommend this organization in the future, I felt the prices were reasonable, the people were extremely honest, and our experience was wonderful.

The trip was really amazing, I still can’t believe I saw Mount Everest!!!
Also, we loved our tour guide Jenny and our driver, they were very
knowledgable and friendly. Simply put, we highly recommend the trip!

In terms of recommendations, I would include driving times just so that
the travelers will have more of an idea of how much driving they will do,
so they can plan accordingly. Also, maybe suggest packing pain medication
for potential headaches due to altitude sickness.

Pre-trip: Your communication and attention to detail was superb. You accounted for all of my suggestions and provided excellent information feedback. You made sure all information and paperwork was provided, which made out China Visa application process smooth. Guides: Each guide (Beijing, Shanghai, and Lijiang) was knowledgeable and professional. Each had a unique personality that in many ways reflected the region they were working in. Hotels: Excellent accommodations throughout! We really enjoyed the hotel stays in Shanghai, Lijiang, Trek (Cha Ma Teahouse), and Shaxi. They were clean, in good locations, friendly service, and good quality. We particularly loved the hotel (Zen Garden) in Lijiang. The staff went over and above in providing friendly and helpful service.

Transportation: All the vehicles and drivers were great. Each driver did a great job in being on-time, friendly, and safe throughout our entire journey.

Activities/Food: Could not have been better. I would make small adjustments based on what we enjoyed most and not as much, but overall (for our first trip) it was amazing. I really appreciated the variety of events and activities that gave us a great feel for each area of China we visited. The trek was spectacular and a real trip highlight. All the shows we attended were great, we really loved the acrobat show in Beijing. Our entire group loved the food in China! We had a great variety of food from each of the different regions. The quality, taste, and suggestions for food were top-notch. We had no trouble or issues with any of our food or restaurants.

Overall: We LOVED the trip! The students could not have been happier and truly had a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience. The trip would not have been possible without your help and the amazing service provided by HunTours throughout. I would definitely recommend you (Hunter) and your company to anyone looking for a positive, enriching, and smooth trip to China. We left Beijing by air and was met by a special driver in Kunming who took us to our hotel and then later in the evening to Dynamic Yunnan , an artistic dance musical depicting life of the ethnic minorities. The next morning our driver took us to the unbelievable Stone Forest , a world heritage park of limestone formations and caves forming a fairylike labyrinth to explore.

Later that night we took the night train to Dali which was a first for Ella. We had our own compartment.
In Dali we stayed at the Sleepy Fish Inn which is run by 2 British Ladies. We had 2 rooms on the 3rd floor with a great outdoor seating area facing the mountains. Our fantastic driver took us on 2 all drive trips: Er Hai Lake and the 3 Pagodas which is similar to the Forbidden City.

We next were driven by the same wonderful driver for a 1 night stay at The Old Theater Inn in Sha Xi which is cultural heritage boutique hotel. Delightful service and a very peaceful setting.
The last 3 days of our trip were in Lijiang where we stayed at another boutique hotel, The Zen Garden which is located right off the walking street. There are no cars in old town Lijiang so your driver is met at the beginning of Old Town by a cart man who takes your luggage to the hotel for you. We spent a day shopping and walking around Old Town and a day at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain where we saw the Dynamic Impression Show featuring Naxi and Bai dancers and horsemen. We did need our oxygen here.

Thank you again Hunter for a wonderful trip. We also enjoyed many other Hunter excursions to Guilin, Harbin, Xian, as well as several long weekend trips. Friends from the USA have also used Hunter for their trips to China.

HARBIN, China

Sit back and enjoy the ride, Hunter will take care of it all. Braving the cold and

getting up to Harbin was well worth the weekend away from Beijing. Everything

was extremely organized making it easy to go with the flow and enjoy the sites of

northern China.

The first stop of the day was the Harbin Siberian Tiger Park where we got an up

close look at the Siberian tigers. It was interesting to see the tigers but the

conditions in the park were not the best. The tour included going out in small buses

through the park and a walk on a covered walkway to look down at the tigers.

Following the tigers it was time for the ice sculptures at Sun Island Park. These

intricate snow sculptures came in all sizes. The designs had everything from

Minions and characters for the kids to more traditional Chinese features like

dragons. I believe there were over 100 sculptures around the park. Also at the park

was a variety of activities such as a slide that inner-tubes are used to slide down,

chair skating, bumper like cars on ice as well as some smaller hills to slide down on

your own. It would be worth buying a cheap slide to help enjoy this part. We missed

out on the dancing characters and another ice castle but other in our group said it

was interesting as well.

Then it was back on the bus for a quick ride over to the main attraction, the Ice and

Snow World! What an incredible site it was with amazing ice structures all light up.

These building are all made of 3’ think ice and built up to a couple stories tall. In

addition to the buildings to explore and slide around on were slides, include the

longest one in world. Each of the slides had long lines, which was tough to wait in

with younger children. A series of igloos After spending a couple hours there most

hands were chilly and feet starting to feel the cold. Another suggestion is to

definitely bring hand warmers for your gloves and socks. There were food and

drinks around the grounds to unthaw in and grab something to eat or warm to

drink.

The next day we had a leisurely morning with a good breakfast at the hotel followed

by a trip across to town to see ice swimming, now that looked cold. Next we heading

to the shopping area of Harbin to see an old cathedral and check out the city, which

has many connections to Russia. It was worth the excursion to be reminded how big

Harbin is and that it is more than just an ice festival.

All of the food stops were well planned out and gave us a taste of China. Dumpling,

Chinese style pancakes(thin wraps) stuffed with veggies and various types of meat,

and a traditional family style dinner with big bowls of dishes to share all hit the spot.

As vegetarians Hunter did an outstanding job making sure we had plenty to eat. He

even offered to go to a different restaurant to get the kids plain rice to make sure

they had what they liked to eat as well.

It was a quick trip with the right balance to activities to get the full Harbin

experience but not feel exhausted upon getting back. Hunter was an outstanding

guide that truly cares that each and every member of the trip is taken care of and

happy(Hunter even got a stuffed animal that was left behind in the hotel back to

Beijing safely). He is also a well spoken, interesting and leaves you feeling that you

have made a new friend by the end of the weekend.

Thank you Hunter for a great cruise on the Yangzte River.
As always, the organisation was clockwork, and it meant that we could relax and enjoy our time both on land and on the boat.
The 3 -star hotel in Chongqing was well situated (next to shops) and confortable for a family and the 5-star boat facilities were amazing.
Although we were three in a room, we never felt without space. The programme of excursion was really pacy and interesting.
The rain throughout our trip did not stop us from thoroughly enjoying it. This is a trip we will definitely recommend to our friends.

The thought of travelling with three young kids in a challenging destination as China scared me at first, but Hunter showed us it is possible! A kid-friendly intinerary; a tobbogan ride of the Great Wall and fantastic acrobat show in Beijing, making our own Terracota Warriors in Xi’an and a fairy tale guest-house in Ping Yao. Fantastic memories for all of us! Smooth flights and train rides, Hunter made sure our driver was waiting for us at the exit at all times. The trip Hunter organised to Harbin was wonderful. Everything from reading the first initial email announcement about the trip, to paying, then meeting Hunter at the airport for the flight was smooth and easy. Throughout the two days we had a fun guide and lovely driver. No time was wasted, but we didn’t feel rushed. For me the ice park at night was the absolute highlight, although I did also love the snow park and seeing the local people of Harbin hanging out on the frozen river on the second day.

Hunter ensured we had delicious, hot and well prepared meals, which were always ready when we arrived in the restaurant. We had a nice range of Chinese meals to try.

As we flew out of Harbin, Hunter checked us all in at the airport, so it was hassle free and just so easy. I would definitely recommend this trip to people.
